The Fourth Session of the Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in the Americas was held in Guayaquil, Ecuador on 27-29 May 2014. The Regional Platform gathered key stakeholders and actors in disaster risk reduction and resilience to consolidate substantive and political contributions from the Americas coming from the previous Regional Platforms in the region in 2009 (Panama), 2011 (Mexico), 2012 (Chile) and 2014 (Ecuador) as key inputs towards the development of the post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction, to be submitted for consideration at the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction and its Preparatory Committee meetings.
Outcomes:
1. Involving high-level political and executive authorities along with various actors to advance the disaster risk reduction and the climate change adaptation agenda in the region.
2. Undertaking a joint assessment of the progress in disaster risk reduction and the climate change adaptation for the period 2005-2015.
3. Identifying and celebrating the achievements made through the Hyogo Framework for Action 2005-2015.
4. Carrying out a substantive consultation with participants from various sectors on the new framework.

La IV Sesión de la Plataforma Regional para la Reducción del Riesgo de Desastres en las Américas reunió a los actores clave en reducción de riesgo de desastres y construcción de resiliencia de todo el continente, en un espacio participativo y de intercambio de conocimientos afin de promover la planificación, monitoreo y toma de decisiones colectivas y estratégicas, así como las acciones para el avance en la implementación del Marco de Acción de Hyogo, vinculando esfuerzos regionales, nacionales y locales.
